USC Africa Student Fund

We are pleased to announce we are now accepting applications for support from the USC Africa Student Fund.   USC Africa Student Fund is an endowment to support undergraduate student travel to Africa for study, research, service-based learning and internships.  Students participating in independent research may also apply.   In 2009-2010, the fund’s first year, there will be a very limited number of students who can be supported, but we expect the fund and the number of students receiving awards to grow in future years.
For 2009-2010 applicants, travel should take place between March 1, 2010, and August 12, 2010. The  award will consist of economy round-trip air transportation between the U.S. and a destination in Africa, with a total value not to exceed $2,000.  The travel must be for stays of ten days or longer and must be endorsed by a USC faculty member.  A five (5) page reflective essay detailing your experience will be required upon your return, due no later than August 30, 2010.
Please note the requirements for applicants:
. Undergraduate students only
. 3.0 GPA or higher
. Personal statement
. One faculty recommendation
All 2009-2010 applications (including faculty recommendation form) are due by 4:00 p.m. on January 15, 2010. To apply please go to the online application form, at:
