I'm starting an organization on campus to spread lupus awareness and I'm looking for some very motivated members who might have some ideas on where to go with this. As of now, the purpose is to simply raise awareness and recruit people, with future intentions of maybe having lupus info sessions or support groups and possible fundraisers to help with lupus research.
For those of you who don't know, lupus is an auto-immune disorder where the body essentially attacks itself. I'm a lupus patient myself, who recently received a kidney transplant as a result of a lupus flare. I feel it is my duty to help those who have it (or those who know a loved one who has it) through not only offering knowledge and advice, but also, simply making this illness know. Lupus is a very harmful disease, and it is not given the attention it deserves, so help me in my efforts to change this.
As of now, we already have a vice president. All other positions are open (Secretary,Treasurer,Program Committee Chair). Please email me if you want to find out more and have any questions. Thank you.
