VSA Black April Commemoration: Fall of Saigon

USC VSA Black April Commemoration

Join USC Vietnamese Students Association in commemorating "Black April" at 4 pm, Friday April 30th in THH 114.

The Fall of Saigon took place on April 30th, 1975 - exactly 35 years from Friday April of this year. The date marks the end of nearly two decades of war between North Vietnam and South Vietnam, with the total collapse of the South Vietnamese government. The war took countless millions of lives. It radically transformed the landscape of Vietnam, the society, and Vietnamese culture.Vietnamese, Americans, and the World community all were impacted by the outcome of the Vietnam War.
Come share your stories and/or listen to the stories of others. See how an event that occured 35 years ago continue to shape many of our lives today. Learn how "Black April" and "Liberation Day" can ironically be the name of one day.
Join the Vietnamese Student Association of USC and Professor Janet Hoskins as we commemorate the lives that had been lost to and the cultural/social impact of the Vietnam War.Through discussion we will explore the impact of war on lives, societies, and culture.
