Interaxon Neuroscience Educational Outreach

Interested in teaching kids about the brain?
Be a part of Interaxon, a "neuroscience educational outreach organization". Which basically means we create original lesson plans and props, visit schools to teach local under-served K-12 kids about the brain and science, and have a blast doing it.
What makes us special?

  • You choose your commitment. No bi-weekly journals or putting aside 3 hours every morning. We do expect responsibility, but you pick whether you go on one school visit or all of them.
  • Put the science you've been learning in action, for real. If you can explain action potentials to second graders or exactly how marijuana affects the brain to high schoolers (and make it fun!), you know you've learned something too.
  • Learn from your peers in a non-competitive environment, from advice on professors to research opportunities on campus.
  • And we'll be inviting graduate students who need research assistants to come recruit, as well as professors to meet.

Come see what we're about this Thursday, September 2nd at 8pm in VKC 102 at our introductory meeting for new members. There'll be pizza, and it's on us!
Find out more on our website. E-mail us at usc.interaxon@gmail.com or find as on Facebook: "USC Interaxon."
P.S. We welcome USC students, regardless of year or major. The material we teach can be handled by anyone who wants to learn, although many of our members are science majors seeking to supplement their education.
