The Medical Missionaries Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship in Global Health

St. Joseph's Clinic, Thomassique, Haiti

Fellowship Description: Each year, two fellows are placed at St. Joseph's Clinic, located in the Haitian Central Plateau. The fellows act as liaisons between St. Joseph's and Medical Missionaries, the Virginia-based organization that founded and supports the clinic. Their responsibilities include helping coordinate the clinic’s operations and managing several health outreach programs involving Community Health Workers, water access and purification, malnutrition, salt iodization, and education. Fellows work with doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, and lab technicians at the clinic. They also have the opportunity to develop new initiatives to address community needs.

Duration of Fellowship: June 2011 - June/July 2012

Eligibility and Qualifications: The fellowship is open to recent college graduates (including those graduating in Spring 2011) with an interest in global health. Although no specific prior experiences are required, strong applicants will have outstanding academic and extracurricular records and a demonstrated commitment to reducing health disparities worldwide. Fellows should be prepared to live in a rural, under-developed setting and should be in good health.
