Re: Changes to Registration during Orientation
We are pleased to announce a significant change in the registration process for incoming students during our Orientation programs. Effective this summer, on the registration day of our on-campus orientation sessions only students attending that session will have access to Web Registration (i.e. students attending F2 will be the only students able to access the Web Reg system on June 18; access for all eligible students will resume on June 19). We hope this will do a variety of things to make it more fair and equitable for incoming students, including:
· Fulfilling our commitment to incoming students that they have an equal opportunity to enroll in General Education courses (and some discipline-specific courses) at each orientation session, as we open new seats specifically for those students.
· Allowing departments that release seats for each Orientation session to do so in the morning of the registration day without concern that other students will register for those seats.
· Allowing the Registrar’s Office to provide advisors and Orientation staff a list of open GE classes prior to registration on Orientation days, to aid in advisement.
The Web Registration will be closed to continuing students on the following dates:
· June 11 (F1
· June 18 (F2)
· June 25 (F3)
· June 30 (F4)
· July 7 (F5)
· July 9 (T1)
· July 14 (F6)
· July 16 (T2)
· July 21 (F7)
· July 23 (T3)
· August 17 (ISO)
Important: Please advise your students of these Web Reg closures—and encourage them to plan ahead and access the system either before or after these dates. Continuing students will also be notified through the Registrar’s website and MyUSC.
If your department releases seats for each Orientation, we encourage you to do so in the morning of each Orientation registration day.
