On Saturday, May 8th from 9am-1pm, we’re hosting a USC Campus and Community Yard Sale event on University Avenue (near the Troy housing complex).
We know that Move-Out can be a stressful time—you have more stuff than you have room to store and your things are still worth something. We also know that the USC dumpsters get filled up with perfectly good, usable items, so we are also incorporating a Donations Area where unwanted items will be given to a local community organization.
Our philanthropy is three-fold:
1) Serve USC students by giving them a FREE opportunity to sell some unwanted things for profit
2) Serve those in need locally (and help the environment) by donating good-condition items to local community organizations
3) Serve the community and show our appreciation through this joint campus-community event
How it works:
We will set up tables on University Ave. for individuals, groups and organizations to display items for sale. You are responsible for pricing your own items, bargaining (if desired) and collecting money directly from buyers. You keep all the money from your sales and get to decide whether it goes directly to the original owners or if it’s a fundraiser for your org. We are even offering to help move your stuff to the Yard Sale location in UHauls the morning-of! The best thing is that it’s all FREE! How can you get involved?
1) Spread the word! Tell the members of your organization and your friends about the event.

2) Decide if you want to set up a table (or more than one) as an organization and how you will deal with money
3) Help us by volunteering. We’re looking for people to help set-up, clean-up, work the donations center, and more! Just email us if you want to help.
This is purely a philanthropy event for APO, we do not profit from the sales or the donations. We’re really excited about our Yard Sale and we want our first year to be BIG! It’s a great opportunity for your members to make a few extra dollars at the end of the year, have a lighter load in the dumpsters, and give community members access to good, high quality items that they otherwise wouldn't have.
