Although it doesn’t replace the print version of the Medical School Admission Requirements (MSAR), the MSAR website offers a number of useful interactive resources for premed students. To complement the new print version of the 2011-2012 MSAR guide book, the AAMC recently launched two new features on the MSAR Web site. The first is a collection of motivational stories submitted by current medical students. The second feature offers writeable PDF resources for pre-med applicants to help them (1) track pre-med coursework requirements, (2) find the most appropriate schools to apply to and (3) prepare for medical school interviews.
Ultimately, when you apply you’ll want to purchase (or at least take a look at) the print version of the MSAR for that year because this guide book includes all the most recent data available about the applicant pool and individual medical schools. Please remember that the DATE on the MSAR refers to the matriculation year you are applying for and not the year you will be applying. Thus, those applying now are using the 2011-2012 MSAR, and those applying in June 2011 should use the 2012-2013 MSAR.
