GlobeMed is a network of university students which aim to strengthen the movement for global health equality by empowering students and communities to work together to improve the health of the impoverished around the world. We partner directly with grassroots health organizations around the world working in undeserved communities, funding effective projects that help them achieve their missions and serving internationally alongside them. We hold weekly meetings on campus to learn and discuss today's global health issues as well as raise funds to support our partner organization. We also plan on-site trips to visit our partner, which we call GROW (Grassroots On-Site Work) trips, and contribute our time locally to the Los Angeles community.
Our chapter at USC supports the establishment of a medical laboratory with CareNet in Ghana to improve maternal and pediatric health (take a look at the picture attached to this email). Several of our members recently took a trip this summer to Ghana to see the progress CareNet is achieving. During this trip, they realized the impact that our work and their work combined has had on the community, and how much potential our efforts can bring forth to making a difference in global health.
Our mission with CareNet is only beginning to take full force, and we welcome you all to come on board and become a leader in global health and social justice.
